Concept
The concept refers to the overall purpose, look, and content requirements of the website.
This is by far the most important phase of website development. During this process the purpose of your website is established, and your audience defined. An informational site is quite different from a sales site, and a teen-age audience will not respond to the same visual look that appeals to a mature audience.
The scope of the website and navigation requirements are determined. Print the website planning worksheet for (PDF file) details and things you should be thinking about.
Your website needs a url, or web address. This should be researched at this time if you have not already purchased one.
The design
This is rough page layout showing the position of elements and navigation.
It is critical to work out navigation and design elements at this stage, and to decide on the titles of the sub-pages. Once the site building begins, any changes you request that alter the design may result in a 'ripple' effect and the additional work will be billable. (You will always be notified if this occurs.)
It is important to realize the actual finished site will vary slightly in appearance when displayed in different browsers. This is because browsers (such as Microsoft Explorer and Mozilla) do not interpret html code in exactly the same way.
Construction
The construction phase involves creating necessary graphic elements, coding the pages, and inserting the navigation links.
Generally the site construction takes place in the following order:
The site is tested before final launch.
The final website is tested in Microsoft Explorer, Mozilla, Opera, Google Chrome.
Be sure to review the content carefully. Remember, YOU are responsible for the content.
At this point, you may arrange hosting for your site, or let us handle this for you. If you already have a server, we will transfer your site files.
Launch!
Congratulations - you are represented on the world wide web.
